Clip from the impressive Ramsar Grand Hotel which is set up on the hillside overlooking the town and Caspian Sea. The "Old Wing" used to be the Casino before the revolution. This hotel has fantastic view of the city and the mountains.Recorded in June 2007.

  • @davidkaneen: Were you working for Casan - David?

  • @jilfalk: We didn't have any tigers or cougars there. Wild dogs - yes. The Casino (Caspian Casino Club) was absolutely open to women. We had 2 casinos - The Roaring 20's - open to the general public, and also the Main Casino & Salon Prive upstairs that was open for guests and members. We also had the Disco up at the main building, and then another one at the Tosca Room done at the end of the long avenue right by the beach. The pool was also open to women.

Yes, but natural radiation is very different than what comes from a reactor meltdown.

  • the funny thing is that radiation level in Ramsar is higher than in sealed zone around the Chernobyl reactor.

  • I stayed at the Ramsar in 1976. Very beautiful and impressive. The lush hills behind the hotel were gorgeous and you were warned not to venture there because of large felines! I guess tigers or cougars? The casino was open but not to women, neither was the pool area. The staff was courteous and the grounds well groomed. In all, Iranian people are loving, giving, and open-hearted. From, a California born and bred girl.
