  • Nature does fusion on water

  • Chemical fire = molecular "fission"

    Current nuclear energy = nuclear "fission"

    Biological plants = molecular "fusion"

    SINGTECH = nuclear "fusion".

  • Helium 3 baby. It makes the sun burn in a real application for energy. 0 neutron radiation too.

  • well, right :D

  • that sort of depends on how old you are.

  • exactly :)

  • THIS FLASH movie is NOT working

  • so is this thing gonna be built in our lifetime or what ?

  • nuclear fission also requires enough uranium for a chain reaction, which will be enough for a nuclear meltdown that can poison entire landscapes and can cause death and disease for millions of people, as happened in tschernobyl.

    this is not possible in nuclear fusion, the quantities present in a reactor are very small and very hot. any malfunction would cause them to hit the wall of the reactor and cool down.

    but... how can you expect that info to be in a documentary done by general atomics?

  • great documentary, as far as i can tell its very accurate.

    but they could have mentioned the drawbacks of nuclear fission: the leftovers that remain when uranium gets split will remain radioactive and thus poisonous and dangerous for thousands of years.

    nuclear fusion also produces lots of radiation, but the leftovers arent radioactive, and the material surrounding the reactor can be designed that it will radiate only for a short time, so that they get safe again after 100 years.
