  • p.s. What is a "35mm adapter"? I see that mentioned frequently. Is it perhaps because I don't have that? What is it?

  • It is a device that allows you to connect 35mm lenses, the kind you would have on SLR still cameras, to your video camera. You would be adding a lot of weight to your cameras front end if you put one of these and a bigger lens on your digital video camera.

  • Sure would like to know what your "drop time" in seconds was. Have tried every possible setting with that Merlin, beein practicing with it for two months, and never once got a picture thas was not like a drunken man on the deck of a ship in a gale.

  • I would say it was about a second to a second and a half. I spent hours tweaking it, trying to get it to balance. It is no easy task to get the thing to fly just right.

  • @tubeindividual letus or redrock has some good 35mm adapters You can search them up on google

  • That info valuable to me thanks. I have tried every "drop time" from 1/2 second to 2 full seconds, and still never got anything close to your excellent results. Balancing the camera I can do in 3 minutes. Know all the basic settings, and just a few turns of the rollers, and the platform is perfectly level in all directions...so long as I don't MOVE. Then, it's it all goes to hell. Rocking, jerking, swaying. No matter how careful and obeying all the rules. Have practiced for weeks, and still n/g.

  • Sorry that I spelt Leo's name wrong,it should be Kottke. One of the tunes that I think has a similar feel, is Strange and Vaseline Machine #2

Have used my Merlin again this morning. But need a hood on the LCD screen, so that I can see it in the low sun we have now.

  • Yes, this was without the vest Dave. And I do not know who this song is playing in this song. It is an Apple Loop that came with Final Cut Studio, and no credit is given.

    Thanks for the compliment.

  • Nice demonstration of the steadicam. Very smooth. I take it that was not with the vest. Also is the Guitar Leo Kotte. Sounds the same sort of playing to me.

  • I would love a 35mm adapter, but they just cost way to much. I think I will upgrade to a better camera before I spend any more money on the HV20.
