Madeline O'Brien- Time for me to fly

Madeline is such a beautiful and telented little actress!

Ben Affleck, the director of the critically acclaimed "Gone Baby Gone,'' can thank The Cameo Agency/Cameo Kids for providing him with the movie's title character.

The baby who ends up gone, as in abducted, is portrayed by 4-year-old Madeline O'Brien of Swampscott, who has been represented by the Waltham-based model and talent agency since she was 6 months old.

According to Cameo president and owner Lynda St. James, Affleck complimented the young actress several times. ``He said she is incredibly professional for someone so young,'' says St. James in an article about Madeline in this month's issue of Imagine magazine.

Carolyn Pickman of C.P. Casting Inc., the Boston-based casting agency which handled the local casting duties for "Gone Baby Gone,'' says in Imagine that Madeline's audition with Affleck was "mind-blowing - she followed his every direction, went from giggly and happy to serious and sad, then back to giggly - and he hired her!''

Madeline, who plays Amanda McCready in "Gone Baby Gone,'' even had her own trailer for the film. No wonder she didn't want the experience to end. "When the movie was finished shooting, she got up the next day and wanted to go to the movie set,'' says St. James during an interview with the Daily News. "She didn't understand that it was over. She was really upset because she wasn't going to get to see Ben and everybody anymore, though she did see them at the opening. You can tell a child it's over, but they don't necessarily understand 'over.' ''

"Gone Baby Gone'' marked Madeline's second silver-screen performance as she played Anna Cooley in the 2006 film "The Legend of Lucy Keyes'' starring Julie Delpy and Justin Theroux.
