This is Part one of a two part video.

During heavy metal's heyday, a fringe group of moralists calling themselves the Parents Material Resource Center ("PMRC") fought to censor or rate records in the aftermath of a troubled youth's suicide, attributed to lyrics from an Ozzy Osbourne album. Calls to completely eradicate heavy metal or to enact strict censorship laws prohibiting certain lyrics in music were running ramped, spawning the PMRC. Allied Artists CEO and Chairman, Kim Richards (Pink Floyd, Renegade, Robbie Dupree, David Nauhton, Luis Cardenas, Kevin Dubrow), took to the airwaves with none other than Donny Osmond, to fight the PMRC's effort. Richards and Osmond appeared all over the country as well as before Congress fighting the effort. In the end, the PMRC compromised and the industry accepted "voluntary" warning labels, to be used at the individual record company's discretion. Had it not been for the efforts of Allied Artists, Kim Richards, Donny Osmond and many other industry luminaries who oppose censorship, the PMRC's efforts may well have changed history and curbed our First Amendment rights! • Great job, Donny! He defended artists and albums that he didn't necessarily like or agree with.

  • I am a metaller and now I see Donny as a saviour

  • fucking a Donny Osmond!

  • TO THE PMRC: GO TO HELL AND GET YOUR ENTRAILS RIPPED OUT OF YOUR BITCH VAGINA

  • 2:04 is that palins mom?

  • Wasn't this before Dee Snider testified? Back when the Democrats were FOR censorship?? What side was Al Gore on?

  • I'm sorry, PMRC, but when Donny Osmond, the epitome of ideological cleanliness and family friendliness, is opposed to your censorship, you've officially gone too far.

  • People who think that metal is "Satanic" *Cough cough*Sis Leven*Cough Cough* should get a life.

  • I ugree this muxik could make kids want to fuk with their junitaileeah.

  • Did they really believe that putting a label on an album was going to sway the album sales?

Come on. How stupid did they really think people were? Personally, I will go out and buy an album or cd because it has the music on it that I want to hear. A sticker is not going to stop me or make me want the album more. If its what I want to get I will buy it. Done. It has nothing to do with a warning label. You'd think that these PMRC would be able to figure that out. lol.

  • Sis Levin GO TO HELL!

  • Go donny, now and back then.

Said me, an osmonds loving metal head
