Police brutality? Are you kidding me? You obviously have to use some force when a guy at the brink of madness is trying to struggle his way out. He isn't going to just lay down all relaxed. He's going to fucking fight his way out, no matter what.

The guy will have been fine once he sobered up, and probably won't remember too much detail of the horrors he went through; it's definitely better than having a bad trip in the middle of the motorway and getting yourself killed.

The police were right to do this, he is obviously hallucinating but he is on a bridge by water. If they approached the situation any differently, he may felt threatened and jumped into the water. I'm sure the bloke would prefer a bad experience than a much more dire situation. The Police know what they are doing i'm certain they have dealt with similar situations before, it wont be a unique incident.
