  • @SpookeyR this was just Obama playing teeball. He picks a pointless bill that no one in their right mind could oppose and used it to gain points. The bill is clearly irrelevant as the civil rights act and several high court cases have already dealt with race discrimination in the workplace.

I'm not anti-Obama, but anyone who can't see this for what it is is blind.

  • @bone: "Govt should not be involved.... PERIOD!!!"

    No.

Gov't should be involved when the right's of the individual are being trampled upon and when the justice that they deserve is being denied to them, often merely bc they don't have the mean's to achieve the respect, fairness & justice that is so rightfully theirs.

But, then again you do support Ron Paul, hmm?! That might give some indication of why you are so politically ignorant.

    You're wrong!

  • @gnr: "It was already illegal to pay an employee less for the same job based on gender or race. What makes this bill different?"

In order for the work place to be fair, properly fair, then it is necessary to pass such law's, to make sure that the loopholes are filled & that the worker's, their right's & ultimately their families & the American dream, do not get trampled upon. This is what this law does and that's why it is right!

    Does that answer your question?

  • This woman is a thug idiot, if your marginal revenue product is higher than you are paid for then voluntarily ask for a raise or quit. Do not be a coercive thug idiot. Anyone like that thug that acts like a criminal should be charged as such.

  • Manwomanmyth everyone. Check the website out.

  • EVERY place I've worked women were paid the same as men. In fact, a lot of times women did way less work and got paid the same or even more. Just drive down a road that's having construction work done and see who's holding the traffic signs and who's doing the grunt work with the jackhammers and shovels! And what about women living 7 or 8 years longer than men, does this old bitty consider that?! It was old bags from the '70s that went on TV shows spreading this shit. RememberDr. Joyce Brothers?

  • @blacksabbathgnr098

It about a $35 mil increase in budget. Sorry, as a dem I hate to say it but it’s not about helping people. EEOC’s work load didn’t increase that much in the past 6 years but they wanted nicer offices. I just spent two hours researching EEOC’s own reports and the ACT itself. So it’s about taking tax money that could have been used somewhere else.

  • It was already illegal to pay an employee less for the same job based on gender or race. What makes this bill different?

  • @femaleMBA : Now your getting back to my point. If the fact pattern you describe was reality, no man would have a job. They'd be fired in favor of women who would work for 23% less. Like the AAUW fraud regarding schooling, this 23% thing is subject to all sorts of confounding factors and is painting a picture that does not exist. No problem, no need for a law, bringing us to: What is this law really about? I think it will be used to transfer wealth from men who earn it to women that have not
