Owner, Dave Stephens was so enamoured with the P51 Mustang, the American WW2 icon that he decided to build his own of sorts, turning an intimidating pile of parts for a Titan T51 Mustang kit into a flying aircraft in impressive time doubly so, since it was his first kitbuild.

  • ha, all the swastika-kill stickers... lol...

  • i would put in the Honda motor...250 hp...MORE POWER!!!!!!!!!

  • @NIGHTEHAWK I believe Titan Aircraft is offering an 84'' 4-blade electric prop for their V6 engine line, but that even that requires a belt driven re-drive system due to the high rpms. In my opinion the most accurately scaled P-51 replica ever made was the Stewart S-51; the Titan is quite off in scale, but it isn't bad.

  • @NIGHTEHAWK Dave Stephens is in the UK and when he build this plane, the LAA (like the U.S.A's FAA) would not approve any other engine in this kit other than the Rotax, so that small prop was his only option. Second, if you want to replicate a P-51 as close as possible, even at 3/4 scale, you're going to spend about $400,000.00 - $500,000.00 USD at a minimum compared to this plane which can be built out completely for less than $100,000.00 USD. That's not tough math for anybody.

  • Nice video. Have added to my Favourites and my Aircraft playlist.

  • @KarriKoivusalo Ah.. I didn't know that. Never messed with a Rotax. But anyway, I was just pointing that out cause I think it looks, incredibly, stupid. My father and I believe that if your trying to make a replica, if you can't make it almost exact in every aspect, don't do it.

  • @NIGHTEHAWK

Not really with the Rotax. There is one reduction ratio available, and that's all you're going to get for it, basically. The auto conversions (Suzuki V6 and upcoming Honda V6) do have more to scale props.

  • NIce job Dave well done

  • Very nice!

  • @chaosopher23 But you can gear down the RPMs of an engine. I get where your coming from, but in all honesty it just looks stupid.
