  • Good GOD that is an amazing sound!! T51 sound without the useless T51 lag / unstreetable power band!

What kind of manifold are you utilizing with this turbo? Is the turbine 1.05 / 0.91 divided or 0.88 undivided?

How much torque do you make @ 3000rpm?

    Again just breathtaking that sound!

  • @flightz71 Hey, i'm using a log style cast manifold (from threadstone performance). It's an open T4 manifold. The turbine housing for my 83-75 is the .88 open. Car made 220ft/lbs at 3000, 270ft/lbs at 3500, and 375ft/lbs at 4000. Peak torque was 436ft/lbs at 5200rpm. (17.5psi boost)

I'm sure a divided manifold with a divided turbine housing (say the .91) would do even better :)

Sound is great indeed, got to love the Borg Warners.

Hmm interesting, yah it seems to spool a little slow for a 60mm (compressor inducder)... especially since you're mated to a log manifold... I'm guessing it's due to the fact that BW mates such large turbine's to these tiny compressors compared to say precision who mounts a 62mm turbine with a 62mm compressor). I'm guessing BW does it to get you your top end at the cost of a lot of low end spool.

When does your car make max boost? How is the driveablity around the city?

  • @flightz71 @flightz71 Driveability around town is good, no complaints. Just don't expect it to be better then a sequential stock twin setup below 3000rpm.

On my dyno sheet boost goes vertical at 3600rpm, then at 4000rpm the wastegate opens (at 14psi) after which boost continues to build to 17.5psi at 4600rpm and stay steady from there on.

If i didn't have such a low boost setting, it should keep going vertical from 3600 through 4000 and on and hit more boost faster.

Thx for the detailed response... I've been hooked on researching more ever since I saw your video. I'll probably end up running a twin scroll manifold, or one of those new quick spool valves with a cast manifold like yourself to increase response. By the way, how much clearance to you have between the car body (suspension mount) and your turbo? Is there 1" of clearance? (If I want to run a QSV I need 0.75" of clearance of extra room to the frame of the car).

  • @flightz71 I have 15milimeters (1.5 centimeters) from the compressor cover to the shocktower. Not much. Another problem would also be the height, my compressor cover sits at the same height as the top of the throttlecable bracket. I am running no inner hoodliner. If the quickspoolvalve needs to sit on the cast manifold as well, i'd think the turbo would be sticking up so high i can prevent the hood from closing. If you need specific pictures to show all this, email me at luke at 94supra dot com.

  • Stock cams fuel etc? Could you please provide a mod list? I am very interested in this turbo..

  • @mrhydesupra

Again thank you for the detailed response. With a log manifold, the entire turbo unit would move in a horizontal direction (towards the shock tower) as the manifold exits that direction. Tubular manifolds are where u add height (but all of them are designed to there's plenty of clearance). From what you mention, it sounds as though 15mm isn't enough... i need at least 25mm. Also sorry ot bug but can you get back to me regarding your electronics and fuel in my other post? Thx! :D

  • @mrhydesupra

Also, sorry some more questions... what type and brand electronics are you running? Piggyback? Fuel Controller? Standalone? Also I'm assuming fuel system is stock?

    Thx again bud!

  • turbo just singing lol, sounds amazing...

  • why is the v-power in the us with so low octane? we have in germany v-power with 100 octane?
