fit perfect to the movie

You're absolutly right "bubthezombie" ► Don't watch that film with Goldsmith music score but do it with Tangerine Dream one...because Goldsmith didn't know, I guess, what was the "essence" of that movie....Tangerine Dream did !...

Darkness...is he supposed to be Lucifer/Satan?
-
this track , this only track is very rare an doesnt exist on any soundtracks on the market , i have searched an came up empty handed

3 german guys with synthesizers and a few other instruments with just 2 weeks to do a film score did a far better job than a guy with a fully symphony orchestra and quite a bit of time to do the score, for shame Goldsmith!
-
Kind of reminds me of Age of Wonders (1st) Ost.
-
shame it was cut from the album. I bought it specifically for this peice and was sorely disappointed when it wasn't on it! Thanks for uploading:)

The Tangerine Dream ST is more ethereal and other worldly. Jerry Goldsmith's ST isn't bad, but it seems more appropriate for a Disney fantasy than a Ridley Scott film. Goldsmith's wasn't dark enough for this film. Although I do like Lily's song from the original soundtrack, a very songbird, uplifting melody.

I couldn't find this particular song on the soundtrack. Love the "pan flute" sound.
-
I had to find a bootleg of this years back, one of the harder tunes to find.

This music pwns all. I can't believe there are people who prefer the other version. Really, I can't. The atmosphere just isn't there. This is what I think when I think of legends. This otherworldly, precarious thing. It's so fragile, as if the dream-like peace could be shattered at any moment. Tangerine Dream captured the essence of this film perfectly.

looks like stan is fireing a lightning bolt out of his crotch

Agreed. This was a good movie.
-
There were alot of cue's and extra music missing from the original TD release (which is common) but i never understood why they edited this intro out
-
It kinda sounds like it's set to a comedy sketch set in a magical forest. I mean, I can't help cracking up when I hear it. I was able to take it more seriously in the mid 80s... course, I was a little kid at the time... and when I got hold of the original score, that changed my world, so, biased 'n all

I love the US version of the movie with this music. The other version's music bores me and makes me fall asleep 20 minutes into the movie.
-
I can't believe there are people who think the OST Jerry Goldsmith version was better, I think they just say they do like it better just out of respect for Goldsmith's career as oppose to righteously agreeing to the much more magical version of Tangerine Dream.
-
This is why I prefer the American version of this film. The music is more mystical and haunting.

@SadisticScion Happy to help :)
-
@Shakumei Thank you very much for the information which turned out to be what you said it was.
I now know where this hauntingly beautiful melody that has been in my head since childhood comes from. Once again, thank you!
-
@SadisticScion It might be a synthesized shakuhachi, not 100% sure. Look up shakuhachi at wikipedia and look at the songlist
-
@chilliedog2918 just get a program that converts this into mp3...seems to be good quality.
-

I love that third at the end ofthe minor key--it sounds so sharp.
I remember sitting listening to that piece with my dad when I was real little.
He liked it so much he bought the soundtrack and we listened to it in the car for like a year.
It was my first encounter with scored music.
