I said some lenses cost that much. Regardless, 4500 dollars is not something anybody I know could throw around very easily. I don't see where your point lies.
Absolutely you can, but to do what the guys above do and to really get the picture you WANT it takes money.
This is my point. I have a Nikon D40 and I take as great of pictures as I can with it, I have a picture or two posted as a background in some of my videos. Having had the D40 for three years now, I'm craving something else. I'd still use my Nikon for some things, but there are pictures I can't take with my D40 and some limitations. Lenses are the most expensive though.

I don't know for sure, but I think it's something Youtube is trying so people know who's replying to who.
