You can prevent future cracks in the upper hand guard by using Upper Hand guard clip pliers, which are made for removing the uppse hand guard.

@SlideLock1 No I'm not, the old stock is for sale at some point. Do have one or two Springfield Garands that will go up for auction, a minimum one.
