@swat35816 I know this is two years overdue. But your a lucky man to have been able to work with the tomcat and see it in all its glory before then retired them and sent them to either scrap yard or museums. I only got to saw one fly once when i was about six.

@milvipes you are right iranian F-14 tomcat shot down 156 to 159 iraqi AIR FORCE MIG-21,23,27,25,and bombers, as well others, add that w/U.S NAVY' F-14 air to air kill 5 bring that to a total of 159 to 164 air to air kill for olny just one F-14 loss

i never had much with the f 14 cuz its before my time but now it looks pritty cool but its still bit weird that those engines are so far apart xD looks like they just made it fast

I cut my teeth and worked on the Tomcat for 18 years. I was a Aviation Electricians Mate in U S Navy. Started with VF-2 and was also stationed in VF-33, VF-101, VF-143 and also was a Instructor at VF-101 FRAMP. I was at the retirement ceremony at NAS Oceana and never seen that many grown men with tears in their eyes including me. The Tomcat has a special place in my heart and taught me aviation at it's finest. Thanks for the ride

F-14 is the best, Hornets, Falcons and even Eagles feared Tomcats. How sad for U.S. Navy today, they dont have fighters that could match carrier borne SU-27 or SU-33.
