how would you compare this camera to a canon xa10?

I heard that the newer JVC camcorders are better in low light in 720p instead of 1080p formats. Since I have a JVC HD110 this would be a nice little brother for 720p 24fps footage. Any less expensive Canon's in the $400-$600 range single chip that might be a good knock about as well? I do a lot of band footage, and would be cool to hand out a 3 or 4 $400 camcorders that did decent 24p footage to the friends and family of hte bands to get more intimate footage before, durring and after gigs

@xIIIxViperxIIIx The HM100 does have a lot of noise when shooting in low light. However, it also maintains quite a bit of detail. If you are shooting low light with one, I would apply noise reduction afterwards when editing to smooth out some noise, while still retaining the details. Many other camcorders have little noise in their low light shots, but also throw away a lot of the detail.

@DandDRawks There is a cold shoe on top of the camera and the XLR adaptor. This is an unpowered shoe, so you will need to make sure your light has its own power supply.
Well do you have a jvc hm100e? And of u compare this to canon's xf series does this stand a chance on winning??

@jillian148 I use the HM100 for many of our videos, my favourite is the Pentax 645D video. I far prefer the workflow from the JVC, it is the fastest currently available, I also prefer the ungraded colour from the HM100. However, the XF100 does have a much nicer screen, and a better colour space if you are grading the footage. If time is not a concern, I would go with the JVC, but if you plan to edit the images heavily, I would go Canon.

does this camera have a removable lens so that a fisheye could be attached when needed? thanks.

@dohdohrox The lens is not removable, but there is a 46mm filter thread for mounting fisheye conversion lenses.
