I want this piano so much. I salivate at the thought of it. I lust for it in the depths of my soul. However, my wallet cries out at the thought of dishing out $104,000 for a piano, however gorgeous and lovely this piano might be. This is a 9 foot long Steinway grand piano that is currently resting magnificently (on a pedestal, too, I might add) at Heid Music in Appleton, Wisconsin. I was privileged enough to be allowed to play this masterpiece of music. It seems almost blasphemous that I then chose Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag" for my world video debut. But what can I say... Joplin speaks to me. (I apologize - the sound and video may be out of synch. My camera apparently sucks. Also, please note that a whole lot of you out there wouldn't be able to tell it was out of synch anyway.)

  • nice playing...this kind on music in my opinion does sound better on a shit piano tho!

  • @mini300bhp I'm in agreement ... the piano in my apartment hasn't been tuned in about 20 years and ragtime just sings on it. (But the only piece I knew from memory at the time I filmed this was the Maple Leaf Rag... lol) thanks for the comment.

  • hahaha, I hear Potter in the background!!! yayayaa...I'm a loser.

  • ... is this who I think it is?

  • one of the few songs i think sounds better on a shit piano, the twngier the better.

  • I almost agree with you on that one. lol

  • Steinway grands are the instrument of choice for classical pianists, but to get the true ragtime sound, you need to 1)get an upright 2)never tune it, e) spill a lot of beer in it. Cheers!

  • It's a Steinway. You treat it gently and with respect.

  • My upright was left outside for two weeks in the rain and sun by my father after a wild party. It truly has acquired that 'ragtime' sound!

  • shit piano! yamaha better! ching!

  • in my personal opinion, it needs to be played a bit faster, and with the 2/2 ragtime swing

  • the sound is of

  • It is not an easy piece, but it is one of the easier rags. There are many pieces easier and harder than Maple Leaf Rag, but most rags are not easier.

  • Quote: "Maple leaf rag actually is one of the easier rags to play"

Damn, it is not an easy piece. Do you play piano?

  • You underrate yourself
