You are an absolute moron! Welding at the lowest possible setting does NOT allow for good penetration into your base metal. Second quencking your metal will cause it to case harden making the weld and surrounding base metal very brittle. I hope to God that you never ever build anything that will ever be used by another creature as you crap welds will more than likely fail at the most inopertune time killing them. Just cause you own a welder doesnt mean you should use it.

Sean, Good try but you have no idea what your talking about. You need to learn to weld properly and practice a lot before you (or one of your students) kill some one or yourself because your welds fail. You also should read up on metal characteristics and what happens when you quench really hot metal. Heres a hint,,, it rymes with brittle.

@70GTODAN i never learnd to weld at school, i tried it myself and always worked out fine.

I tend to use a fairly high voltage to really melt the 2 objects together, and when having 2 flat pieces to weld i sand a little V shape to put my weld into so the weld is flat so u dont have to grind off the excess metal. And water bucket? lol the metal cracks when u do that.

I was directed here from "WeldingTipsandTricks" as an example of how NOT to weld. I've never heard of "YouGizmos"... but being a welding student and knowing how wrong most of this video is, I don't think I will be visiting that site anytime soon.
