Built in 1893, this is the only survivor from a batch of 10 and the oldest surviving Petter engine. After this batch of steam engines the company changed direction and started building oil engines.

A quick run on compressed air, the first for 40 years, the next time she runs will be in a new building on steam (we hope).

  • Nah - chuck the old lump in the skip and get a nice shiny new electric motor! ;-))

  • Like the Mamod color scheme!

  • Nice to see.thanks. I knew the man ,John Cole ,who found this engine at Martock, then presented it to Petters. It was thought by making these engines Petters woke up to the fact that Steam was so grossly inefficient in all ways and woke up yo the fact that some thing better could be offered.

  • Neat little engine

  • Very nice, I have read about this engine so it is great to see it running!

Almost sounds like an I/C engine...
