On the Books' latest release, the duo creates an emotional roller coaster of outlandish vocals samples and various musical styles. This thing is all over the place, but believe me when I say that's a good thing. There's a ton of vision behind this album; and despite all of its weirdness, it's still highly accessible. It's one of the most engaging listens I've had all year.

What do you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why?

9/10

  • Dude, i like you a lot. this album rules.

  • @BigFramedWomen Awww, thanks! :-D

  • Listened to 'A Cold Freezin' Night'. It really reminds me of an album by Hit! Hit! Punch! Punch! called I Think In Spongebob. It's a free download, but the whole thing is just the recorded ramblings of a 4 year old with punk instrumentation.

  • @Pretsal Might be Thirty Incoming. :-)

  • I was really skeptical coming into this video (figured it would be some hipster ranting about The Books) but you actually were quite intelligent. We share similar thoughts when it comes to this album. Great review man!
