  • Hendrix was amazing because he had his OWN sound, and his own amazing gift to let his soul speak through his guitar. And likewise with Vaughn. Sure, they both play the blues, they kinda play the same genre of music, so of course there are similarities. But if you really listen, two very different sounds, both equally and absolutely AMAZING! Sorry for the rant, it's just that I always see these arguments about these two and it hurts me to see that people are completely missing what's important.

  • @01Shorthanded Lennon really deserves to never be mentioned with a guitar great......

  • Yeah, they were great writers, you have a real gift for the obvious. And what do the Stone's have to do with this other than they were they bad boys the beattles wished they could be? Someday you should pull your head out of your ass and read some of the things McCartney has said about Hendrix. He has a much better understanding of his talent than you do.

The fact is Hendrix, for the most part, was a joke of a song writer. You can count his good songs on one hand. The Beatles wrote over 200, 99% of them hits. In any 3 year period Hendrix came nowhere near to outselling them. There's a reason for that.

Hendrix was a good blues player with a flashy act. The great majority of his live performances were very sloppy (to be kind). Compare those with the Rolling Stones who put out 110% in each and every show. Hendrix was a lesser artist.

    1. "Pot was the LEAST they did". They dropped acid. Big deal. Lennon got into heroin after the Beatles split. Pot and LSD are minor drugs. Stop trying to make them into a big deal. You're only making yourself look more foolish.

    2. "the whole Maharishi thing". Had nothing to do with religion. The Beatles promoted peace and love. The Maharishi appeared to subscribe to that. When he made a pass at Mia Farrow's sister the Beatles saw that he was really just another huckster. So what?

  • @LiquorWreckedEmGood Yeah.. I was there too and I've read every shred on the beattles. Pot was the LEAST they did. And I guess you glossed over the whole Maharishi thing. No problem. Pat Boone cashed in well after the ball was rolling. You really are showing your ass now, you should quit while you can. I thought you knew too little about Hendrix to be commenting on him, but it seems you know even less about the beattles. My sympathies.

Oh please. What did you do? Watch a Beatles documentary one day and sleep thru 90% of it? I LIVED during that time pal. I KNOW what i'm talking about.

    Drug binges? They smoked pot.

Fake religion? They eschewed religion. You couldn't BE more wrong.

Making black R&B sellable to white kids? That was Pat Boone you moron. The Beatles took R&B to a whole other place. If you don't understand that then you know nothing.

And last time I checked, retards didn't have 162 IQs.

  • @LiquorWreckedEmGood Thanks for confirming it! You ARE a fucking retard! Other than going on drug and fake religion binges they re-invented shit! And they made their careers by making black R&B saleable to young white kids AT THE RIGHT TIME! Please stop embarasing yourself.

Hendrix was not a great artist. Hendrix was a very good blues player who knew how to perform on stage. His lyrics were laughable. His songwriting was, for the most part, hit and miss (with an emphasis on the miss).

The Beatles' success cannot be simply dismissed by the statement "they came along at the right time". That is pure nonsense. The Beatles changed the entire face of popular music and left everyone else in the dust. They reinvented their music ON AN ANNUAL BASIS.

  • @LiquorWreckedEmGood You're a fucking retard if you think Hendrix takes a backseat to anyone as an artist. Lennon was a great writer while being over-rated at everything else. Hendrix was a great composer while being a guitar virtuoso and proficient on many instruments. The Beattles made a bigger impact by being more commercialy acceptable, and coming along at the right time. As individuals, well....whatever.

  • I was there! Front row right in front of Tommy's amp. CBLT Easter seals telethon in Toronto Canada. Stevie had just done a gig at Massey Hall I believe and this was recorded at about 2am. On a personal note, my father was the tv director of this telethon. My father was also the director of a TV show called 'In Session" which SRV did an appearance with Albert King. SRV... one o fthe greatest of all time.
