@chinasherry1961 wrong capitalism doesn't lead to facism. captilism simply means ppl own the means of production [capital] privately; not the government.
but we don't have FREE MARKET capitalism, we have CRONIE capitalism in which certain industries are given aid at the expense of others by the government.
it's more akin to socialism really. becuz although socialism doesn't believe in private property they do believe in CORPORATE WELFARE.

@gordontubbs except that we have propped up countless dictatorships and brutal regimes ourselves. The US can't claim to have saved the world from "tyranny and oppression" when it participated in it itself.
And we're rapidly descending towards becoming a full on police state.
The founding fathers would be disgusted with what our leaders do today in the name of "freedom".

@gordontubbs and who will rescue the world when the U.S. becomes oppressive? Have we not become an "empire"? Do we not assert dominance over global currencies through military might? I believe the best good we can do is set an example for the world to emulate. Sadly the government has fallen from that ideal of liberty and become intrigued with power.

" dependent on commerce as a way of life"
Global commerce is not something that Jefferson railed against, despite his affinity for an agrarian society. Republicans were in favor of free trade and captalism. They just didn't think that America should meddle around the world in places it has no business to interevene.

@patriotadEEUU I try not to blame anyone or anything these days because if you are a Christian then you will understand that we live in a fallen and broken world. Any "system" made by man will fail because mankind is living in a failed system called the World. We cannot achieve perfection, but we can achieve greatness if "we try". This is what Jefferson and the rest of the Framers believed in, because so far, America has become the successful nation it is today because "we try".

@topazrain I don't believe in the New World Order, or a global cult conspiracy -- but I do believe in "globalism" and how for better or for worse the world is progressively becoming more interconnected and dependent on commerce as a way of life. You don't need to point to a "secret society" when you have politicians and businesses around the world agreeing that global commerce is the future.

And who do we have to blame for our ignorance? John Dewey, the father of our failed educational system or ourselves?

Jefferson > Hamilton.
-
He was killed in a duel with Aaron Burr, an opposing Politician, Hamilton refused to fire a single shot and Burr shot him in the chest, he died soon after.
It all comes out in the wash. America is Hamiltonian today because the world is Hamiltonian. If America was the agrarian, self-sustaining, highly educated republic Jefferson wanted, we would have never been in the position to rescue a world from tyranny and oppression, or from doing much good with our vast wealth and global stature. Jefferson failed to realize that while America is the New World, we are tied to Europe...two World Wars and an impending Euro bailout should be enough to prove that.

@gordontubbs You are correct with you're description of the US and the world today but is that a good thing? I would say no because I prefer Jefferson's opinion and the 1% New World Order is demonic destructive cult which will destroy the USA and the world soon enough.
