After working for years in wax and resin, for the last year I've been working extensively on digital sculptures which are then 'materialized' with the technique called 'rapid manufacturing'. For me, the 3D-printing technique gives me a limitless freedom in almost instantly materializing the images I have in my mind. Attached there are some examples of the sculptures I exhibited with great success (three of four were sold) at an art manifestation in my hometown Haarlem (The Netherlands). • I've been thinking about getting a Makerbot or RepRap to do this sort of thing, but I don't think that those low cost machines are up to it. Has anyone tried this sort of thing with low-res machines?

  • Reminds me of my GIJoe toy Action Figure (doll) from the 60s but a little more flexible and with alien eyes.

  • You did a great job! I hope to make a BJD soon, and find that the way you jointed the whole torso is wonderful! Don't worry, I won't copy you, lol. Just a wannabe (soon to be artist?) here, admiring a pro. :)

  • @SoyBoySigh You obviously have never heard of Asian Ball Jointed Dolls before have you? That's what they're supposed to look like...

  • wonderful. i love these translucent materials.

  • I would LOVE to have a 7-11 cm version of this! a BJD for my BJD

  • can i buy her

  • @thedevo01 - the Objet 3D printer can produce these moving ball and socket joints in a single print with n need for assembly. This is one of the advantages of using Objet 3D printers which are based on inkjet photopolymer jetting technology - the ability to create highly accurate moving parts within a greater whole.
