A short video I shot of Belmont Park's Chance Chaos before her retirement. This is the Chaos I ran for nearly four years before I left my job.

HISTORY:

February 1997 - Commissioned by Chance Rides and travels the carnival circuit in Michigan.

1998 - She was sold to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California.

2003 - Santa Cruz trades Chaos to their sister park, Belmont Park in exchange for Sea Serpent. At this time Chaos was sent back to Chance in Wichita, Kansas for refurbishment before arriving at Belmont in San Diego. The Tilt-A-Whirl was moved to the former Sea Serpent spot and Chaos was installed in the previous Tilt location.

Up until her retirement, Chaos was experiencing mechanical problems and kept malfunctioning on a monthly basis.

2009 - Rumors began about her retirement.

April 2010 - Belmont Park signs a contract to acquire a Unicoaster from Chance Rides in exchange for Chaos.

Summer 2010 - Chaos remained closed during most of its last summer due to mechanical problems forcing the park management to shut the ride down until its last day.

September 26, 2010 - Chaos gave her last ride and was decommissioned that night. Unfortunately she died miserably as on her last ride for Belmont employees, she broke down and never flew again.

One week later, workers spent four days folding the ride up on her on trailer (lengthy since the ride was rusted up) and was transported back to Chance Rides in Wichita, KS. During the transport, her axle broke off while traveling through Yuma, Arizona.

Immediately work began on relocating the Tilt A Whirl to its original location before Chaos.

In early December, the Unicoaster dubbed "Octotron" arrives and opened the following month.

Today, Chaos is now rotting away at the Chance Rides junkyard in rough condition and is still awaiting a buyer. It is unknown if she may operate once again.

UPDATE 1-5-2012: The ride was sold to a showman in Mexico where she operates once again.

Flown by me - December 11, 2005 - October 12, 2009
