9500i Saves Me from A BIG Ticket!!!

My 9500i saving me from a school zone speed trap where the speed drops from 45 to 25. The cop was hiding at the base of a hill and would shoot you with his gun as you crested. Unfortunately, he made a rookie error; he left his radar unit in his motorcycle on which the 9500i detected at a good distance away.

how did it save you from a ticket? The cop already had someone pulled over, he wasnt even at his motorcycle.

@SkinnySkinch I'm not sure if this was a trolling attempt or if you're just that ignorant and ill-informed. They are not in any way useless unless you're in an area that only uses laser. In fact they're very useful and often give very good warning for speed traps and police either overtaking you from behind, or coming at you from the opposite direction (given that they have their radar on, which in my area they frequently do) so yes, they kind of do "what people think they do."

@Derralllewis Nothing unless he lives in Virginia or Washington D.C. and if he DID live in one of those 2 areas he would have been served with another ticket for using an illegal detector. Nothing serious just a fine. There are only 2 states in the USA that do not allow the use of Radar Detectors.

@XSpt A radar detector is basically useless unless a cop is constantly holding his radar down which no cop does anyways.. if your radar detector picks up a signal that cops signal has already got you 99 times out of a 100.. so most states governments don't really care about making them illegal because they really don't do what people think they do.

@XSpt I'm not sure what you are saying but I think you are trying to say radar detectors are illegal on the entire continent? First off you are wrong because there are many different countries on the continent we happen to live in. Secondly there are only a couple of states in the U.S. where radar detectors are considered illegal. They are Virginia and Washington D.C. They are perfectly legal in all other states. Canada has 3 provinces that allow them. Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

Even if you did speed past him you would have been fine.. he's not going to leave the ticket he's halfway through writing because u went through going 20 over.. now if u were going like 50 over or some ridiculous dangerous speed then maybe he would scratch the ticket and chase you.
