@dancingmephisto because of the name "JUDO"; "DO" means way (like a way of life), so the philosophy is strongly linked to the practice. Judo should be seen as an integral development discipline....sorry if my english isnt that good

@popolaman73 yea that was the main event of ufc 141, but im talking about the fight of nam phan vs jimy hettes, hettes totally dominated phan with judo takedowns and ne-waza also dong hyun kim did some judo takedowns vs sean pierson, and in ufc 144 akiyama showed his judo on shields even though he loss by decision, but shields could take akiyama down

i love this martial art, but my question is why would some one who loves this martial art has to learn south-eastern spirituality, bowing down "rei" etc why can't a person just learn the art without all that spirituality?

@BroomeBlocker4 , appreciate it! as a former practioner of judo for over 20 years, i have seen it change over the years , but the radical overhaul of the sport taken palce 2 years ago did me in and i quit on the spot. the ijf is a bunch of small minded clercks who know nothing about the sport, yet made such a fundumental chenge , to its detrement, to it.
