What has eight sliders that tend to move around on their own? No, it's not your gastrointestinal tract after a late-nighht visit to White Castle. It's M-Audio's ProjectMix I/O, a smart mixer with a Firewire interface that allows you to record audio directly into your DAW. One of the cooler features of ProjectMix is its assignable rotary encoders, which let you do your mixing and tweaking from the physical mixer rather than having to reach for your mouse. ProjectMix is compatible with ProTools M-Powered 7, Ableton Live 5, Logic, Cubase, Digital Performer, and SONAR.
@darrenguitar untrue. SInce pt 9 you could use the PMIO on the non m-powered version of pro tools. I have pt 10 right now, which is not m-powered and it works like a charm.

@Holms It's more of a daw controller, so you'd control your EQ plugins in whatever DAW you are running with whatever you have assigned to them I guess.

@BKLYNBOY7 On the Projectmix you are connected through Firewire which is not hot plug able. Hence the term frying.Only USB is hot plug able.

@kauters You're looking for a control surface; just google 'control surface' and the software you use/want to use.
