After the first boss hit on the second phase, I don't hit him with another Boo right away because that will make him restart the two-handed attack, which would further delay his next rock-throwing attack. However, I had to make sure the Boo wasn't squashed by his attack.
On a few of my attempts, he did a punch attack at the point where he did a two-handed attack here. But I don't know what triggered it, and I don't know if there's a way to trigger a rock-throwing attack instead (which would definitely save several seconds).
This strategy was somewhat difficult for me, largely due to the star bit shooting involved. For a slower but easier strategy: stay fairly close to Bouldergeist and run in a circle around him, then spin whenever a black rock hits the ground.
That was pure epic. It would take me 10 minutes to beat him because the black boo would always hit his hands

That was fast. Really fast. You always make hard levels look so easy. 5/5 stars.

Very cool strategy. I didn't know you could beat Bouldergeist quite that fast.
