PLOT: A short version is at the bottom for those who cant be bothered.
LYRICS (&my interpretation):
Well I watched a black tied family
Rise up from graves near cemeteries
That I have not been to since your goodbye
^ Jack passes a funeral on his travels and is reminded of Wills funeral which was the last time that he saw Elizabeth.
And I drink another simile
And compared your Jesus to a thief
And he took my bones and he turned them into bread
Cause I can feel your pain
In my bones, in my bones
^ Jack was angry at Will for dying because he felt like not only did he steal Elizabeth from him as she is now unresponsive and depressed but Will also stole his courage which he cannot pluck up to go and visit Elizabeth and see how she is doing even though he knows how upset she is.
I was scared to call your mother
For news that you werent getting better
My God, just what the hell am I supposed to do?
^ Jack didnt want to contact Elizabeth in case she hadnt got over Wills death and he has no idea what to do.
And I ran off, and ran on to something
That I swore was everything but beautiful
I only say that word for you
^ Instead of staying in Port Royale Jack left to drown his sorrows with women and rum and he almost manages to forget Elizabeth until Scarlett (red head at Tortuga) asks him is she is beautiful and he realizes that he would use the word only for Elizabeth. He rushes back to Elizabeth to bring a smile back to her face.
Tl;dr: After Will dies Elizabeth is wrought with grief but Jack is not man enough to face her and try and console her despite the fact he knows the pain that shes going through. Eventually he plucks up the courage to return to her and bring a smile back to her face.
