http://www.therenegadehealthshow.com - When I started this interview, I had no idea that it would take the turn that it did...

Though I was glad Susan Schenck, author of "The Live Food Factor" was honest and open about her decision to no longer be vegan... in fact it seems like she didn't have a choice based on the information she shared with me.

This is the first of a series of shows with her explaining what happened to her.

Take a look...

  • Yo if being vegan was how we are all meant to be, then it wouldn't so difficult to be a healthy one. Veganism works out great for some people, but it ends in disaster for many others. Then you persecute former vegans who are clearly doing BETTER once integrating animal products? Insanity.

  • @HotButterOnToast Because we were hungry; and it is hard to get fresh produce in the dead of winter.

  • @MetalMistress888 My children know perfectly well where their meat comes from and why I choose not to eat it. They also know that if they choose not to eat that meat then, that's o.k too.

  • @MetalMistress888 Nice try, the human body digests meat just as good if not better than plant foods. In fact, the biological availability of most animal foods is MUCH higher in quality and quantity than plant foods. Heme-Iron comes from ANIMAL FLESH........the human body absorbs it much better than Non-Heme. Iron Deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in the USA........and a leading cause of Anemia. B12 is plentiful in eggs and offal.....true superfoods.

  • @ainnhana You say: "Never heard a vegan speak of other forms of animal abuse." --Well, every vegan I know ( and I know a lot) is concerned about these issues. Very concerned. In my case I was against animal experimentation even before I was vegan. But I am glad you raised the issue - the animal abuses you mention should not be ignored.

  • @klubbkid You're right - she could have done a lot of things, but instead she prefers to play the part of the victim and write a book insulting the intelligence of vegans and vegetarians everywhere. It sounds to me like the vegan diet was just a faddy idea for her, one that she played around with for a while. If she had really believed in it and been really committed to making it work, she would have found out what she was doing wrong, corrected it and stayed off the carcasses.

  • @tickyul It's so unnatural that our intestines, our fingernails, our stomach acid are all perfectly designed to eat only plant matter. Some of us wouldn't force a diet of dead animal flesh on a child. I mean have you ever tried explaining to your innocent kids that the meat you are feeding them comes from cute animals that have their throats cut and bleed to death in slaughter houses? It doesn't usually go down very well.

  • @HotButterOnToast :-) well, if I am doing what you say, that's just the perfect compliment to what this woman has done with this pointless misinformed book - she is comparing her own badly-managed vegan diet to a well-managed omnivorous diet.

  • And yes indigenous tribes ate meat.Humans have eaten meat for years and years so based on our history, meat eating is the only way to live and we should not change. On that note, early humans were also very violent and would rape and EAT each other. So why change cannibalism, rape, and murder because we've been doing that for thousands of years too.

  • And about b12, most Americans have a deficiency and most are meat eaters.Other factors like pollution will deactivate b12 in your body. Ask yourself..if I get b12 from cows, where do cows get b12. what do cows eat? Cows are vegetarian and eat grass. their bodies make b12 and so do yours.

  • Most people who fail is because they are not eating enough and that's why they get cravings.People forget that 3000 cals. worth of fruit & veg. is very different than 3000 of cooked dense food. When you are underfed you loose mental clarity. People also fail when they are too strict and hard on themselves.
