I have looked hard and you are the best 'Blaker' I have ever heard. He is my favorite. Draggin your thumb and stalling off beat..too tight man.

this really SWINGS man. for the life of me i can't figure out how you do that half step run in the D chord.

FANTASTIC playing, buddy! Really captures the fun feeling, too.

I can play this pretty competently with my right hand, I just have to work on my fretting and with my left.

how long have you been playing this blake-ish style stuff?
Very nice indeed! Is that an old Schmidt Stella?

@zthetha i wish! it's just a tacoma, though i did obtain it from maestro stella himself, neil harpe!

Wow you are a fantastic picker, I expect you know that. I am just starting out and was wondering how long you have been playing and if you have any tips on what I should be practicing to get a good start. I imagine you have been playing for about 20 years but you dont look old enough. Fantastic.

hi, thanks chris. i just followed around some great older pickers and immersed myself in the stuff (and am still doing both of those things!). my only tips are what have helped me - trying to learn by ear as much as possible and playing with other people as much as possible. that way you really soak it up. i started with mississippi john hurt and john fahey and worked my way towards blind blake and gary davis and skip james and luke jordan and...the list is endless!
good luck, cheers,

Very nice! so is that a Gibby Nick Lucas model or something different?
lcgeek 4 years ago
it's actually a tacoma pr12, based on the exact specs of a nick lucas and costs under a $1000
