Devaki Pandit performed at Chowdiah Memorial, Bengaluru on 14-Aug-08, as a part of Barkha Ritu music festival. She is accompanied on the tabla by Sri. Ravindra Yavagal and on the harmonium by Sri. VyasMurthy Katti.
I have organized all my hindustani video clips at http://suswara.blogspot.com.

HAha Spot on!! A song of longing and separation, of course it is a kajri. Don't what I was thinking. I think i will leave the earlier comment, proof of flaw.
Just heard Smt. Devaki again, her voice is beautiful. Makes one sad to know how highly underrated and undervalued though.

This is actually a Chaiti. Its comes from the purab ang of hindustani shastriya (Hindustani classical music). I feel Mrs Devaki Pandit has a very sweet voice and her classical singing is flawless, seen as she's been trained under the finest in our country. Although this doesn't sound like a chaiti...I am personally extremely influenced by Smt.Shobha Gurtu and i've heard this chaiti in slight variations but all versions by just her. This chaiti doesn't give you the feeling it is supposed to.

This composition is dear to my heart. One of the giants in this field, thumri/kajri queen Shobha Gurtu has several outstanding versions of the same. Though a bit subdued, nice to hear a diffrent rendtion from another master. I guess the main difference is in the texture of the two voices.
