10,000 views for the iMac G3 700 mhz Snow SE and so as promised I have produced this slightly better video in HD. Same mac, but not as fuzzy video. I show off some of the improvements I have done on the old machine while torturing you with repetitive music I picked up for free off the internet. Enjoy.

  • Really nice computer... I have one Graphite special edition myself... But I have a question, why do you have those ugly speakers if the speaker from the computer are sooo good! They are a Harman Kardon, man! Use them!

  • @alexsader78 You are right and I did remove the old Boston speakers and use just the internal speakers plus I bought an iSub for it which makes it really sound great. I use SRS iWow when playing iTunes music and sounds good through the speakers. The SRS does make the high end and mid range sightly over power the isub. The iSub is also Harman Kardon and I guess this proceeded the sound sticks. Side note: I pulled the SSD out and put it in a G4 mirrior door.

  • Ever thought about the "no music" option?

  • @HellYeahhhhhh You do have the option of turning off the sound on the video.

  • Due to temporary insanity, I have installed the last upgrade to the old iMac G3 which is a ssd for the internal drive. It cost me through OWC $229.00 for a 115 gb solid state drive with the 3.5" rails and a sata to ide card. It cuts the start up time not by half but almost. It runs all day at a cool 86 degrees. I disconnected the fan I put in it to keep the old 7,200 rpm drive cooled down. Runs great.

  • I just brought one of these off eBay for £20 have some question:

    1. Does it have wireless, If not I have a USB WI-FI adapter for Mac but does it work on this model?

    2. Can you take the Mac off the stand?

    3. How heavy is the machine, I have a friend who lives five doors up the road and was wondering if I could carry it to his house using the built in handle? Please reply, I hope to hear from you soon and it would be of much help and greatly appreciated as this is my first Mac. ^_^

  • @jpearce1997 I will answer in order to keep it simple. 1) The wifi internal card was an option on this model. You are better off using an external usb wifi adapter if it will work with this mac. 2) ? Do you mean the stand in my video? That is a yes. If you mean the foot stand that comes with the mac that is also a yes since it folds up, but should be out when in use since the mac needs to draw air under the machine to keep it cool ( no fans). 3) It weighs about 35 lb. so yes you can.

  • @NorCalExplorer Thank you so much you was rally helpful! ^_^

  • mintppc dot org will breathe new life into that old computer. You can run Iceweasel 6 ( Firefox 6 for Debian), Epiphany, and have a modern, safe not so slow Linux box. HTML 5 video now works on mintppc, but really you need a G4 to realistically play any streaming video. If you stay mac os x, check out ppc luddites blog for tips for getting the most out of your classic PPC mac. The snows were a beauty.
