"In response to the issues that arise in the Southeast Asian community, SASC holds an annual benefit concert open to all to raise awareness about the social, economic, and cultural issues that our communities face. In 2002, SASC held its first benefit concert to save our student outreach program and then in 2003, SASC held its 2nd benefit concert to raise awareness about deportation. Just this past year, our benefit was called "Breaking the Chain." We addressed issues of rising statistics in criminalization and police brutality, hoping to promote social change in the criminal justice system.

This year, the Southeast Asian Student Coalition & the Southeast Asian Mentorship presents ~ FIGHTING! With Our Fists in the Air! ~ Catering to youth violence.

We aim to uncensor the negative stigmas and false portrayals that come with the topic of youth violence. The media often distorts and silences our real experiences and stories by glorifying and exaggerating realities to the public.

We want to give a space for the youth to voice themselves by reclaiming and affirming their struggles.

These are real individuals who face real violence, and we want to continue fighting to break down the systems of oppression that have contributed to their struggles."
