  • Talk about extension cords. I have quite a-ways to go with only 16 channels...

  • @NickInTimeFilms I started out with 16 channels. Moving from 16 channels to 192 is challenge, but learn and learn well with 16. If you can express your ideas in a meager 16 channels, you can deal with any number later. Re: Extension cords, when you have as many as are in the setup now, it is way cheaper to buy bulk lamp cord and ends and make your own custom lengths. It is cheaper in the long run than buying premade lengths.

  • @StaffordXmasLights Thanks for the advice. I never thought about making my own cords but that actually makes a lot of sense now. And lamp cord only has two prong so they aren't as thick either. That's actually really brilliant and seems quite obvious now that I think about it. Good thing I know how to solder.

  • @NickInTimeFilms You don't even need to solder, really -- you can use SPT-2 vampire tap plugs on 18 Gauge wire that just push in. I'd give you links here, but Youtube prevents such in comments. Search for "spt-2 vampire plugs".

  • @StaffordXmasLights I'm sure that makes this process a breeze. Cut your length, then just pop on the ends. I'm sure most lamp cord comes with a striped negative wire so you know which goes where, even though it doesn't matter for most lights. Now I know what to do for extensions. Do you program your own shows? I would guess so. I use Light-O-Rama but so far haven't finished any songs yet, only some nice animations that I play.

  • @NickInTimeFilms I've done my own shows since 2008, with the exception of the first year's Wizards and Sarajevo, where I used LOR's stock downloadable one. If you want to see a progression as to what you can do, look at my channel and you can see my first ones and what is up now. The difference is amazing.
