85 percent of all fire deaths occur in the home, and the majority occur at night when most people are sleeping. When properly installed and maintained, smoke alarms play an important role in helping save lives, giving an early warning in case of a residential fire.

California's Acting State Fire Marshal says:

"Remember, when you change your clock change the battery."

However, the International Association of Fire Fighters (292,000 members) says:

"Don't just change your batteries - change your smoke detector too . . . using better (photoelectric) smoke alarms will drastically reduce loss of life among citizens and fire fighters."

    Why withhold the truth?

  • This video misses several important points:

    1. Smoke alarms over 10 years old are likely to fail and should be replaced.

    2. Ionization smoke alarms react 15 to 45 minutes slower to smoldering fires.

    3. Ionization alarms are 5 times more likely to be disconnected due to nuisance activation.

    4. Photoelectric smoke alarms are far less likely to be activated by taking a shower or making toast.

Protect your family with photoelectric smoke alarms.
