  • My favorite Giants team - I still can't believe we didn't beat STL that year. This team should have won the world series. Hmmm Baby! I really liked Gary Park - he was so into the Giants - I loved it! Announcer Steve Physioc had a funny call at the end: "A little looper....back to the wall". That was one heck of a little looper...nearly an HR. LOL.

  • @giantlew Yeah wasn't a big fan of Gary Park. Steve Physioc however was ok. I really don't know how the Giants lost to that team. Payback in 02' was nice even though the Giants didn't seal the deal.

  • I remember Gary Park got fired because of Will Clarks antics.

  • @SFFOOL76 Gary Park got fired because he was not well liked...guy was a tool.

  • "A little looper.." Ball was hit to the fucking warning track.

  • "Here's Will Clark."

"WE DID IT, YOU'RE GODDAMN RIGHT WOOOOOOOOOO HOO!!! REBEL YELL!!!!"

    "You're overmodulating."

"HUH YANKEE? NO WAY! NO WAY! BEEN WAITIN' A LONG TIIIIMMME FOR THIS! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

    Classic.

  • It was 16 years since they won the NL west in 71, longest post season drought in SF

  • This is awesome. Thank you for posting this. I could name almost all the players walking into the clubhouse.

  • @FrsBigeasy yeah, that's why the Cards beat them in 7 games.

  • @SFFOOL76 The late Gary Park didn't get fired. He retired.

  • Gary Park retired

  • Man...that game 6 loss to St. louis was a heartbreaker at 1-0. Dave Dravecky pitched his heart out that series. I'm not sure if we would've beaten the Twins in the WS that year or not but I sure would've liked to have a chance to watch those games happen. Game 6 of the WS in 2002..another crushing loss...Tonight... game 5 with Timmy vs. Doc H at home in the Bay. Let's not let this series go 6...much less 7. Humm Baby...let's do it again.

  • I remember watching this celebration in my room on a school night.

Despite breaking my heart by not scoring a run in games 6 or 7 in St. Louis, the 87 Giants are still my favorite team of all time.

I went to all 3 playoff games at the stick against St. Louis.

I still will have a nightmare on occassion of Maldonado's ill-fated slide attempt that led to a 3 bagger, and the only run in the 1-0 loss of game 6.

And why did Atlee start game 7??

  • the hummm baby era....HOW BOUT THEM KIDS

    loved this team
