The video and the comments just go to show you can't build yourself out of ever increasing congestion just by building motorways / freeways. You need subways, light railways, heavy commuter railways, trams / trolleys / streetcars, buses both regular and rapid, dedicated bike lanes and bikeways, etc. Cars only always ends up in gridlock.
more than 50 years and still haven't learned anything ... just keep building and wasting money on the motorways on which to drive imported cars and burn imported oil instead of developing decent public transportation infrastructure... Auckland has diesel trains :( ... well, that speaks volumes!

...and that's why in 2011 Auckland traffic sucks.
Still, they had a good idea about how to deal with the traffic Then. Pity we're still using the same system Now.

Why waste money on a lost cause?
Auckland's blown it. It's just a big suburb that doesn't function. Wellington's the future ;)
