I have a '98 frirebird manual transmission about 157,000 miles and i got the same noise...sounds like there is no oil circulatinng through the crainkcase...it lasts for about a few seconds to a few minutes then it dissipates....and the oil guage reads lower than usual!!!

I dont hear anything? Must be my headphones.. But goodluck on the fix or upgrade!

most likely some sticky lifters, run some seafoam through the brake booster and crank case. These will always have some lifter tap. That sound it nothing to be worried about. It only becomes a problem when it is a very pronounced tapping and promotes misfires.

I hear lifters ticking. Try hooking a manual oil pressure gauge up to it some how and see what your oil pressure is. May need new pump.
i have a 98 firebird same motor. SAME DAMN NOISE. i have no clue what it is. now my oil pressure is droping to 20 and lower. what is your oil pressure?

@whitephaux My oil is fine, stays right in the middle at idle and up slightly when going, but I heard it was the lifters ticking, might can try synthetic oil it might help it abit. thats what i'ma do next with a follow up video.
Also Lucas has an Oil additive thats suppose to quiet the engine down abit. I might try both. though so you know you might wanna get your car checked low oil pressure isn't a good sign, or the sensor could be messed up.
