I dedicated this song to my good friend, Timimtv (Richie), here on youtube! This was the first song he had heard sung from Timi years back before falling in love with her! :) I also dedicate this song to david1234lee for working so hard with helping with the English translation and doing such a poetic job!

Timi sung this hit classic at the age of 13 in the 1994 album 恋恋风情 (Sentimental Expressions of Love). She had also previously covered this song at the age of 9 in her younger album, 黄金九岁黄梅调, released in the year 1990. This version is also included in the high definition DVD release 柔情小调 (Tender Melodies) in 1998, in which combined songs from the albums: 恋恋风情 (1994), 黄梅戏经典2小调重唱 (1994), 春风妙舞 (1995), and mainly 民歌小调 (1994).

梁萍 was the original singer of this song although many had covered it in the past, most eminent 楊燕 (Yang Yan). Other singers include 蔡幸娟 (Cai Xin Jian), 韩宝义 (Han Bao Yi), 谢采妘 (Michelle Hsieh), and 凤飞飞 (Feng Fei Fei).

This song was also sung in the Huang Mei Diao (Yellow Plum Musical) opera, also by the name of 王昭君. This very sorrowful opera reenacts the true story of Wang Zhao Jun, the name of the main character of this opera ballad, whom was a consort of her dynasty and named one of the Four Beauties of Ancient China.

Wang chao-chuan missed her Han emperor.

Mornings turned nights and nights turned mornings
Her melancholy journey appeared remote and hopeless.
Her backward glances only enhanced her anxiety.

The sinking bird hovered over the horizon
Of the endless desert;
The sad call to Hung Yang broke in vain.
The dim moon reflected on the faraway Yenmen gates;
Outside which the frosts fell amid the gallops of the horses continued.
She muses and missed the Han emperor!

She started to sing sadly,
And moved by the scenes around.
Playing on the Piba and looking back on her home ,
Her heart broke when she thought of
The favours received and the gushing feelings she cherished
