I just saw a documentaire about the Bismark and how they fought with pain in their hearts to the last grenate and knowing that they will not return..One of the survivors,who got interviewed,sang this song... Brave and heartbreaking. No More War

But it is indeed beautiful and never more so than in the voice of Miss Ketty.

My grandfather thought my grandma sung this song when hy pikked her up ad their first date in 1940. But she was playing a record. They fell in love. had 6 kids, he died 25 years ago and she died last year 2009. We played this song at her funeral. Everytime I get tears.

Auch wenn ich die Version von Sablon besser finde bleibt doch folgendes festzustellen:
Es gibt weniges was Franzosen und Deutsche im Herzen so verbindet wie dieses Lied. Es wird immer unterschätzt wie sehr Elend verbindet. Auch über die Grenzen hinweg.
Il ya peu de choses qui mélange le français et l'allemand dans le coeur plus que cette chanson.
Mais il y aura toujours sous-estimer à quel point la misère se connecte. Même au-delà des frontières!
