You are correct. There is a certain degree of palm muting involved with this strumming method. The way I was demonstrating it, the strum pattern was: Down, Up, down with mute. Repeat ad infinitum. (sometimes after the mute, I'd hit the strings on my way back up as well). Hope that helps! And don't forget to join the George's Music Uke Club for more free tips and lessons!

how do you strum with the "mute"? im new at this and im having a hard time understanding how you mute

this is my first time at playing the ukulele, i am using my brothers which is left handed and i am right handed but i figure that it doesn't really make a difference learning it the left handed way because i would know how to play it with my right hand either =P

Good tutorial but terrible strum pattern. It's dduudu. Not the dud he's doing. Also, get rid of that scratchy sound offer each strum. If you are going to mute Do it right. (u don't need to mute in this song)

Huge help. I've only had my Ike 3 days but this has helped me sooooo much. But yeah my Ike sounds different and I'm using GCEA tuning. Maybe it's cause you're a million times better. But the strumming is stumping me. Just practice I guess. Thanks again
