What's it like to drive an electric pickup that costs 30 cents a day to operate? How easy is it to "opportunity charge" anywhere? Why do people like the world's first revived battery electric pickup truck? Sylvia makes a new friend from LA while plugging in the extension cord outside an office building, and they chat about "The Secret". If you liked Chris Paine's "Who Killed The Electric Car" you'll probably appreciate this movie clip. Also, check out the Global TV news video on Youtube. For more detailed info about the battery breakthroughs on this electric vehicle, do a Google search for EV DIARY PART ONE through to PART SEVEN. Shot in Vancouver, with the electric vehicle, in association with good people from BC, Canada. Canadian electric vehicles are still very rare, and it is estimated that more 70% of them are just sitting in the weeds, or otherwise unused. Want to know why, and how to get them running again? Read Rob Matthies' EV Diary.

If Zeitgeist 2007 The Movie Official Release gave you the chills, this clip should warm up your heart.

This is just one Secret to Successful Electric Car Commuting.

If you've got a Reva G-Wiz in London (Congestion Charge), this videoclip should be good info for you!

If you also want a Free Battery electric vehicle that costs 30 cents a day to operate:

The Globe and Mail newspaper said that there are only 12 licensed EV's in British Columbia. Down from over 40, about four years ago. The price of gas has quadrupled, but the number of licensed EV's has dropped by 80% in BC.

Doesn't that make you realize that there is SOMETHING WRONG with the "standard" EV out there?

If you want an EV that is daily-use reliable, you've got to change the "losing game", eh? Gotta' think out of the box.

The EV put together by Rob Matthies (me) and Gary Tang with the help of gifted kids and the Vancouver Gadgeteers costs only 3 CENTS per kilometer to operate, including the cost of battery replacement.

One VEVA member's EV, on the other hand, cost him $2/km to own. He's sold it since. And last I heard, it wasn't licensed by the new owner.

Many EV's are rusting away under the shade of a tree in someone's driveway. All of these can be REVIVED and put back in service. And, they can all use DISCARDED batteries, like the Revived Battery electric pickup truck -- the cheapest licensed four-wheel vehicle to operate in the world. It uses dead batteries that have been revived.

Yeah, there are doubters out there. None of them have an EV like ours. You don't need a PhD to see that this is the best option for under a $15,000 budget.

If you want to know how we did this, save up ninety nine bucks, and I'll tell you about battery revival.

  • Owning a electric car, do you still have to pay for air an smog pass on your dmv renewal?

  • @rob92376

Negative - - the registration says "electric" so there is no air pollution test. In BC, you can select the type of engine/motor.

  • How can you revive Nimh battery's then ?? or lithium ion?

    :O

  • Yes on NIMH. Lithiums have a battery management chip that has to be defeated first, like the "inkjet refilling" business.

  • Do you have specifics on how the conversion is done? What type of electric motor, what type of transmission is used, and if a standard (manual) transmission is possible? How powerful does the electric motor need to be for each 100 lbs of vehicle weight? I don't need a speed demon, but want something that can get out of it's own way. Batteries aside, how much is the power plant and drive train setup??
