Dr. Thomas Sowell and a Conflict of Visions (Chapter 3 of 5)

One of the great intellects of our time, Thomas Sowell, explains the differing visions of war; how the constrained vision is never surprised by war, while the unconstrained vision almost always is. Specific application is made to McCain and Obama's candidacies.

"A powerful antidote for people suffering from the dumbed-down bleating that passes for modern education. Go, Dr. Sowell, go!" The Vorthos Forum

About Thomas Sowell:
Thomas Sowell has studied and taught economics, intellectual history, and social policy at institutions that include Cornell, UCLA, and Amherst. Now a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, Sowell has published more than a dozen books. His 1987 book, A Conflict of Visions, was re-released in 2007

And thanks to National Review online and the Hoover Institute for making these clips possible.

  • All human situations have their inconveniences. We feel those of the present but neither see nor feel those of the future; and hence we often make troublesome changes without amendment, and frequently for the worse. He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.He that lives upon hope will die fasting.

    Benjamin Franklin

Never trust a government that doesnt trust its own citizens with guns . Where the press is free, and every man able to read, all is safe. Thomas Jefferson

  • Mr Sowell is a true intellectual. Using his enormous intellegence with the facts of history to form opinions. Dude draws from experience, not only his but others. A true wise man.

  • Pardon me, but that music at the beginning and at the end, while flattering to the one(s) who edited and posted these video clips, contributes nothing, is cheesy and is outright annoying.

  • @BeaucoupRed Thomas Sowell is also a former Marxist who saw the light and changed his ways. It doesn't matter if Rush Limbaugh is interviewing him here, what he's saying is brilliant.

  • I agree with everything that is said in this interview except for the comment about defense spending. The fact of the matter is that the United States has troops all over the world. You could argue that withdrawing troops from Iraq or Afghanistan jeopardizes our security (although I don't feel that way), however their are plenty of more peaceful countries where we could withdraw troops.

  • Thomas Sowell is talking about history,, not opinion.. PROVE HIM WRONG

  • LOL,, dude wake up.. You can't cover up the truth.

  • as I understand you, you mean that there's not much of critical thinking going on, no debate. This I think is true. But 'mutual stroking session' ? :D

And I do think that Sowell's brilliant

  • "Never trust a government that doesn't trust its own citizens with guns." - you won't hear it from European politicians...
