http://www.globalchange.com Most politicians in most democratic countries agree on most things. Just look at how rare it is for a new government to undo legislation passed by the previous administration. Despite all the political posturing, the real debates are not about differences in manifesto promises (often overtaken anyway by global events), but about who has the most competent and experienced leadership team. Most energy in politics today is about single issues such as Iraq, genetically modified food, stem cell research or global warming. Politicians will only have a chance of recovering respect if they start keeping to the truth which is that consensus rules and the opposition are on the whole sensible people with decent policies. Future of political parties, capitalism, socialism, middle ground, third way, liberal democrats, conservatives, labour, conservative party, green party, republicans, democrats, presidential election, America. Parliament and democracy. Comment by Dr Patrick Dixon, futurist, leading authority on global trends and conference speaker.

  • what party are you under?

  • What I have said applies to most political parties in Western style democracies.

    Patrick Dixon

  • I am referring to the party that you vote for or support.

I understand it is a personal question so i won't feel offended if you choose not to tell me =)

I agree with you on a few of your points, I support Right Wing politics. But seeing as the conservatives are too afraid of being right wing these days i go with UKIP.

  • Well that is a personal issue - as I have said most parties in most countries are more similar than most people think so it will not surprise you to know that the choice between parties is difficult for me.

  • Well said, old chap. Oh, time for tea. Cheerio!

  • Thanks - Patrick Dixon

  • There's a growing consensus because world governments are controlled by the consent of the financial systems not the consent of the people.

The 'left-right' dichotomy is alive and well in the US. They use it to obfuscate the people into perpetual dizziness while the government continues their best efforts to crash our economy.

Single-issue activism is feel-good politics because there's nothing else left to feel good about.

Our leaders don't care about who we want to run the country...

  • Is everybody just now starting to realize that there is only one global government??

  • Civilian votes do not matter. Most of the time they are simply not recognized by the people in power unless they agree with the outcome. They do count them, but it's only to make the population "feel" as though they matter. These people running the governments are Elitests and have been born from royal bloodlines that have been in power for thousands of years, and your vote isn't going to change a thing...

  • We need trust and loving hearted people. if you can trust the person on the left and the right of you then id want to stay there. . . .its time for a new government.....in american constitution it sez abolish a unfair and tyrannist government. which is our case now. 'please dont put my spelling abilities as an example of all americans'

  • Very significant and true; what you say show how the deified westen democracy is headed downhill.

  • you could argue that politics is merely adistraction for the masses, to distract them from the real ruling classes and elite. Think about it, it's all just one big pantomime; smoke and mirrors.

  • There has been a lot of unifications and/or progression into unifications of these major polticial parties from both North America and Eurpoe. I guess Alex Jones and his End World documentry does say a lot about this unification tying in with the New World Order.
