@bothloveme With all due respect, I prefer the 1931 version since it's far more complex in that it combined screen dissolves and pre-applied makeup revealed by changed color filtering/lighting. This 1912 version is clever for its time, but IMO it's too quick and clean; it doesn't depict the conflict between good and evil for me. It's still innovative, though, but we can't do transformations like this sans CGI anymore because they would look horrible in digital colored film *sigh.

*sigh* Whatever happened to appreciation? This movie was made almost ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO, and all people can comment on is how low-grade the transformation was. News flash: computers and televisions and special effects haven't always existed. The acting isn't bad; that was the style of the time, and considering the fact that the movies were all silent until the late '20s, the acting had to be over-exaggerated. Sheesh.
