Recorded in Chicago 23 JAN ’51. 3 more cut at that session. All released JUL ’51, except for one. Little Walter played harmonica on Long Distance Call & Too Young to Know not guitar. But ‘Howling Wolf’ (w/o Little Walter) was released in 1970, on the LP They Call Me Muddy Waters (CHESS 1553). Why? Chess Records signed Howlin’ Wolf (“The Howlin’ Wolf”) a few months after this recording; so, to avoid confusion, this session souvenir was kept in the vault for a couple decades! :I:

i have a live version of this, recorded at the ann arbor blues festival back in the 60's. muddy kicks ass! with the slide guitar solo on that one!!!!
