  • impressive. and yeah it would have to be a crosswind or he would have drifted off the runway. correct me if i'm wrong

  • thanks, no crosswind actually. you can make the airplane do it in a slip attitude. It's not the best for the tires because the one wheel that touches down is not aligned with the runway. if there was enough of a crosswind then the wheel/plane axis would align and make it easier to do, typical crosswind landing.

  • Hey, it's called showing off!! Notice how much power he was carrying at touchdown - a lot. Hey, it's OK to show off. If I could do that I would! heh, heh, heh

  • no extra power, maybe a little extra airspeed!

  • LOL If youve ever flown a taildragger in a hard crosswind youll know this is mandatory. No big deal.

  • I dont get what everyone is ranting about. This is a normal crosswind landing. very well executed but normal none the less

  • Used to have a Citabria, REAL men land on the the back tire. Screams like a banshee! Of course you have to replace it more, but in a show you can attract a lot of attention.

  • Nice landing !

  • @dearthpanda not flight simulator. Cessna 185, when I say tail wheel first, I mean a slightly higher angle of attack than the 3 point attitude, so the tail wheel touches first, and in a cross wind I get it to the three point attitude and lland it on two wheels, back and into wind.

The reason is I crashed an auster 'wheeling on' which happened to have flat tyres, Id assume it was due to taking off in a paddock, i admit it was a heavier-than-normal landing but the undercarriage simply split.

  • @Strftw Tail wheel first? In what, flight sim? Give me a break.

  • @ohiowake

    but you did it anyway!

  • RE: Strftw

Tail-wheel being the most delicate assembly of the aircrafts entire landing gear and you put her down tail first? Even in a crosswind scenario?

  • Thats proper crosswind technique, thats how i land in my 152 in flight school, i dont know much about flying taildraggers but it looked nice to me

  • thats actually wasnt a bad landing... i allways touch the tail wheel first though.
