At the Lake County Captains' "Salute to Cleveland Sports History", which was held on August 2 at Classic Park. In this video they pretend that that the "red right 88" interception in the 1980 AFC playoff game never happened and instead the Browns let Don Cockroft kick the winning field goal against Oakland.
The Captains re-created many dubious moments in Cleveland sports history throughout the evening event, including the infamous "Red Right 88" and "The Fumble". But the night was highlighted by the return of Nickel Beer Night with five ounce, five cent beers being sold for one hour prior to the game.
Celebrities on hand that night included the 1980 American League Rookie of the Year, Joe Charboneau, perfect game pitcher Len Barker, and former Indians players Jim "Mudcat" Grant, Joe Azcue, Max Alvis and Kevin Rhomberg. Cleveland State University coach Gary Waters, the Browns' Hanford Dixon, Reggie Langhorn, Tim Manoa and Don Cockroft were also on hand. Jim Chones of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Otto Orf from the Cleveland Force and Crunch and Jock Callender from the Cleveland Lumberjacks attended as well and signed autographs for fans in attendance.
Well, looks like nothing has changed.
