2008 Japan Trip - Himeji Castle

Before I came to Japan I was told by a few people that this was the greatest site any tourist can go in all of Japan, and they may be right.

Himeji Castle was constructed in 1609 and still stands today. It was made during the Tokugawa era by a famous samurai, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It is Japan's longest lasting castle and the only one that is still taller than the buildings that surround it. It is an amazing site to visit and I'm glad I spent a lot of time here.

It isn't really as challenging as you might think. Lots of translations are in English and you can memorize a few important Japanese phrases and get by fine at restaurants and train stations.

Oh yeah, that's one of my fav. places! I just got back from my trip! Absolutely amazing!!! the only thing i didnt like there was all of the stairs...so tiring. lol
