This is a five-part video of a discussion on the Non-Prophets from August 1st. They're talking about Francis Collins and his nomination as the director of NIH (National Institute of Health).

The Non-Prophets is a radio show done by a few atheists in Austin every Saturday. You can check out their website here: http://www.nonprophetsradio.com/

Some of you will know Matt Dillahunty as the host and Russell Glasser as the co-host of the Atheist Experience which is a live public-access television show airing in Austin every Sunday promoting positive atheism and the separation of church and state, things like that. They are currently, however, doing the Atheist Experience in Matt Dillihunty's living room since the public-access studio is closed during the summer for renovations. You can check out their website here: http://atheist-experience.com/

  • I'm an atheist because I walked into the woods and saw NO waterfall.

    =P

  • Dillahunty seems to be the smartest and most logical of these hosts.

  • I love the "fine-tuning of nature's constants" bit that ID supporters pull. If things were different, things would be different. Brilliant.

  • Collins in fact DID use his position of authority to evangelize. He clearly states in the introduction to his book, The Language of God, that for President Clinton's public announcement of the completion of the Human Genome Project, he "worked closely with the president's speechwriter" to specifically include multiple mentions of God in the speech.

That said, it might have helped if these guys actually researched Collins' beliefs instead of going off someone else's criticism of him.

  • To say Collin's beliefs are "disturbing" is absurd. Good God, it's not like he thinks the Earth is 6000 years old.

  • lol this is great, I was at the UC berkley talk by collins, and every critique in this video was just a desperate attempt to grab any slightly illogical sounding sentence Dr collins said completely out of context to make him look bad. Im not religious or anything but this video was just pathetic attempt by a bunch of apparently insecure atheists. Who cares if Dr Collins' views on reality differs from yours, deal with it and get on with your life.

  • @NamesForDogs Well put

  • I do not think Matt likes Russel...he is always criticizing him...

  • Jeff is nice too.

  • These videos have helped me to realize why I like listening to Matt Dillahunty. He IS rational, while most atheists and agnostics only claim to be.

In fact, in this and in the following videos, all of these "enlightened atheists" prove themselves to be pompous jerks. Matt seems to be the only one who realizes that Collins' religion does not necessarily effect his science.

Honestly, I don't care if Einstein worshiped Leprechauns as long as his science was correct.
