Here is an example of pouring latte art into a stationary cup! (Excuse the fact that my crema broke -- it sure is hard to pour & film at the same time.)
And sadly, Italian coffee was the most dissapointing of all. I was told by people like Jeffg2020 that it was the best in the world, and all I recieved was bitter robusta blends, often with the sugar already added.
Australia does have the best coffee. I recently backpacked through europe for 9 months, attending the World of Coffee Event in Maastricht, the Dutch Barista Championships and several roasteries, including meeting and chatting to the owners of Extract Roastery in England, the Golden Coffee Box in Holland and Loring Roasters from America. There is growing excitement in Europe regarding speciality coffee, although Australia is still the worlds leading country in Espresso Preparation.
@jeffg2020 I've never been to dpwn town seattle. I've drank coffee all over Australia, which is arguably the leading region in the world as far as quality and consitency of espresso style coffee goes. Next year I plan on doing a tour of Europe, Canada, US, South America and Arfica, sampling all the best and different styles of coffee as well as visiting coffee plantations all over the world. I haven't been lucky enough to travel as of yet, so all I know is what I read about.
@ashfactor101 Italian coffee isn't on the map? Well, maybe if your map only shows downtown Seattle. Have you even been there? It's some of the best coffee in the world.
@jeffg2020 . I get what you are saying, but coffee has come along way since old men drinking shitty burnt coffee in a back ally. Do you think italians were sitting around 100 years ago going, "do you think they compact the ground beans down in a little filter and pour hot water through it in turkey?" and Turkish guys 150 yrs ago were going, "do you think they grind up these beans and boil them into a think syrup in africa? In all seriousness, Italian coffee isnt really on the map anymore

@jeffg2020 actually, european espresso beans are generally pretty subpar to that of the specialty coffees here in the states.
